Curriculum
At Ysgol Bryn Hedydd, we plan and adapt our teaching and learning so that children can develop the knowledge, skills and experiences they need across a broad and balanced curriculum.
The Curriculum for Wales is based around four main purposes and learning is planned to ensure that our pupils achieve these to become:
- Ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives;
- Enterprising, creative contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and work;
- Ethical, informed citizens who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world;
- Healthy, confident individuals who are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
These purposes are developed across six areas of learning and through developing three cross-curricular responsibilities.
The six areas of learning are:
- Expressive Arts
- Health and Well-being
- Humanities
- Languages, Literacy and Communication
- Mathematics and Numeracy
- Science and Technology
We develop our pupils’ literacy, numeracy and digital competency skills across the curriculum in everything that we do. We use ‘real-life’ experiences to challenge and enable our children to make connections across learning experiences.
